Global stocks tumble and the dollar surges as the UK discovers a new strain of the Covid-19 coronavirus. US lawmakers finally approved a $900 billion relief package that includes $600 checks to households, and a $300 weekly enhancement for federal unemployment benefits for 11 weeks. Global stocks corrected downward sharply overnight in response to the news from the UK, which analysts said poses fresh risks to the growth outlook for the first quarter.
