European stocks start lower amid American political worries

On Thursday, European stocks started lower because recent political developments in America kept applying pressure on market sentiment.

The EURO STOXX 50 dived 0.15%, France’s CAC 40 descended 0.15%. As for Germany’s DAX 30, this benchmark lost 0.14%.

Global equities inched down, reacting to Tuesday’s reports that Donald Trump made ex-FBI Director James Comey conclude the agency's investigation into relationships between ex-White House national security adviser Michael Flynn as well as Russia.

Market participants were already cautious due to news that Trump dared to share top secret intelligence with Russia's foreign minister.

Financial shares traded mostly higher because French lenders BNP Paribas as well as Societe Generale declined 0.15% and 1.08% respectively. Meanwhile, Germany’s Deutsche Bank went down 0.61%.

Britain’s FTSE 100 sank 0.37%, suppressed by Hargreaves Lansdown. Its stocks dipped 2.38% even as the company disclosed a 10% jump in assets by 30 April.
