Local, global security companies compete for China's 'Silk Road'

Global security companies along with their smaller Chinese counterparts are jostling for business along Beijing's "Silk Road". That’s a grandiose plan for land as well as sea routes, which connect the world's number two economy with the rest of Asia and beyond.

Representing investments of hundreds of billions of evergreen bucks, the pet project of China’s President Xi Jinping is seen spurring economic surge at home. It’s also considered to be positive for everything from cement makers to steel prices.

Security companies also expect to tap the rush by simply offering to protect thousands of Chinese employees, not to mention the country’s roads, pipelines, power plants and railways.

Of course, it will be quite difficult. However, with executives warning that state-owned companies running or planning projects from Vietnam to Africa sometimes prefer dealing with fellow Chinese and they try to reduce costs to a minimum.
