Taiwan is confident of being removed from American currency watch list

Taiwan's trade surplus with America is considerably smaller than actually Washington estimates, as the economics minister told. Taiwan’s official hopes his country will be removed from the US Treasury's watch list of potential reportable currency manipulators.

The given issue has been discussed during some policy rate-setting gatherings by the major bank, and Taiwan’s officials explained to the USA that there’re differences in the way they calculated the numbers, as Minister of Economic Affairs Lee Chih-Kung informed Reuters.

Taiwan that last October was mentioned by the Treasury, arose again along with Japan, South Korea, China, Germany and Switzerland on the latest list issued the previous week.

The semi-annual American Treasury currency report has inspected the trading partners for the purpose of curbing what America labels as "unfair currency practices".
