Greenback is intact in Asia with G7 meeting in focus

On Friday, the US dollar didn’t change in Asia because market participants stood cautious in a light regional data day ahead of a gathering of top finance officials from the world's major economies at the weekend, which could provide direction on currencies and trade.

Assessing the greenback’s value versus six main currencies, the US dollar index, stood still at 99.53.

The currency pair USD/JPY was intact too, showing 113.87. As for AUD/USD, this currency pair traded at 0.7375, sliding 0.04%.

Finance ministers along with major bankers from G7 economies are expected to descend on Italy to talk about a wide array of issues. Most probably trade protectionism will be a major item on the agenda.

Overnight, the evergreen buck traded above breakeven versus a basket of crucial currencies because of Trump’s recent decision to have FBI chief James Covey sacked. The decision kept applying pressure on market sentiment while positive economic data capped losses.
